Manaaki Kaupapa – Our Business

MokoPuna Solutions Limited has been founded on an ancestral vision that our people are our greatest wealth.

Since 2002, Director’s - Sharlene Maoate-Davis and Kake Maoate, have undertaken to establish MokoPuna Solutions Ltd as a business that upholds whānau development principles. These principles are literally found within our signature.

MokoPuna represents a beautiful korero shared by Dr Rangimarie Turuki Rose Pere about our ancestors. When they looked into the puna (well spring) they would see the reflection of their own taa moko (facial tattoo) reflecting back at them.

This is what grandparents see in their own grandchildren. A beautiful reflection of themselves and the successive generations to come. This interpretation also acknowledges the ancestral qualities and traits that are imprinted within our DNA.

In addition, as a Puna we ourselves are likened to a deep wellspring of untapped human potential. Therefore when we know who we are?, whom we descend from? and where we are going? we can truly begin to activate our full potential.

Solutions implies that within you lies your own answers.

“Kei roto i a koe to ake mana, mouri, tapu”

This means that our role is to mana-aki – to uplift the uniqueness within each and every person to whom we work with. Therefore as a business we merely guide, facilitate, encourage, support and challenge people or their organizations to look inside themselves for the solutions.

We provide competency based training programmes (wānanga) that encourage participants to demonstrate their learned knowledge, skills and behaviour.

Our wānanga are delivered on marae as this promotes the ideal learning space and environment for participants.

Our wānanga are participant-centred in order to cater for all learning styles.

We engage some of New Zealand’s leading Māori facilitators to deliver our programmes.

Participants come from a broad spectrum of Māori helping professions and sectors.

We primarily focus on providing Māori professional development wānanga.

These include:

- Maori Facilitation – Te Tahataha o te Taiao - Living on the Edge
- Maori Leadership – Ko Au
- Maori Supervision – He Iti Pou Kapua
